Local Government
The Local Government Group exists to liase with the various local authorities acting in South Lakes on behalf of TSL - parish councils, South Lakes District Council, Cumbria County Council, Local Strategic Partnerships and Lake District National Park. We provide expertise and advice to groups on who to contact and any problems that they are likely to encounter. We also seek to engage the various authorities on behalf of TSL to publicise the twin problems of Peak Oil and Climate Change, raise awareness within council of TSL projects and events, and to help with getting funding and encouraging more support from council.
Another key aspect of our work is to respond to the various consultation documents that local authorities put out from time to time. Examples would be the Cumbria Climate Change Strategy, or the Local Development Framework.
