Welcome to Transition South Lakes
Read the Latest on Peak Oil - Jan 2010
Transition South Lakes (TSL) was set up in April 2008 following a 6 month series of events organised by South Lakes Action on Climate Change. TSL has since re-joined SLACC which has changed it's name to 'South Lakes Action on Climate Change Towards Transition' to reflect this change. The Transition South Lakes website is no longer updated - to keep in touch with local Transition news and events please visit South Lakes Action on Climate Change or email slacc@slacc.org.uk and ask to sign up for the free monthly email newsletter.
The aim of TSL is to address the twin issues of Climate Change and Peak Oil within South Lakes by decreasing the dependence of the community on fossil fuels, lowering carbon emissions and by building a stronger, resilient community that is able to be more independent in areas such as food, energy, healthcare, jobs, economics, etc.
We believe that only with the cooperation and involvement of all sectors of the community - e.g. individuals, voluntary groups, local businesses, churches, councillors, schools - is it possible to deal collectively with the two greatest challenges facing us today and to come up with ingenious and creative solutions together.
TSL currently consists of six active groups that meet every month and work on a number of key projects. Each meeting is open for anyone to attend. We also run a regular series of events and workshops which are also open to all.
To find out more about the groups and what they are doing please see the menu bar to the left of this page. For an update on what is happening locally, or on what we have been doing recently, or of upcoming events or workshops, please see the menu bar on the right.
If you would like to be more involved in TSL, or are keen to be kept up to date with a regular newsletter, please email us at tsl(AT)transition-south-lakes.org.uk and we will get in touch.
